The Mirror Will Reveal Your Character

The Mirror Will Reveal Your Character

The Truth Lies Within You

Make a commitment right now that no matter where you might be at on your companies organizational chart or what your job description reads or what your current status is, that you will stand up for what is right.  Reveal your character.  Character makes a difference on being a person who leaves a positive legacy.  At the end of each day, you know that your mirror will reveal your character.  You might be able to hide your shortcomings from others, skate by, but in the end, you know the truth that lies within you.

Take a stand, put your skin in the game; reveal your character.

A Great Excerpt From Og:

Life is a game with few players and many spectators.

Those who watch are the hordes who wander through

life with no dreams, no goals, no plans even for

tomorrow.  Do not pity them.  They made their

choice when they made no choice.  To watch the

races from the stands is safe.  Who can stumble,

who can fall, who can be jeered if they make no

effort to participate?

-Og Mandino

Getting into the game takes courage, energy, passion and will beyond a doubt, eventually, reveal your true character.  What will yours look like?  Maybe that is why you don’t get into the game?  You do not want your character revealed.  It is time to change that.  Character matters.

The Face in the Glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for self

And the world makes you king for a day,

Just go to a mirror and look at yourself

And see what THAT face has to say.

For it isn’t your father or mother or spouse

Whose judgment upon you must pass

The person whose verdict counts most in your life

Is the one staring back from the glass.

Some people might think you’re a straight-shooting chum

And call you a great gal or guy

But the face in the glass says you’re only a bum

If you can’t look it straight in the eye

That’s the one you must please, never mind all the rest

That’s the one with you clear to the end.

And you know you have passed your most dangerous test

If the face in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years

And get pats on your back as you pass,

But your final reward will be heartache and tears

If you’ve cheated the face in the glass.

Create a Rich Ongoing Legacy

Not only does the face in the glass matter, but so also, does every life that you touch.  They have an influence on you as you have an influence on them.  Maybe, I am being unrealistic.  We all know that many people in this world will lie and cheat, and will do whatever they think is necessary in order to get ahead.  However, I stand counter to that philosophy.  I wish for a world where honor and character is prevalent and pervasive.  I wish for a world were positive role models were not hard to find; they were all around. What if when a person was looking at their face in the glass, others were looking on?  Would those loved ones feel proud of the consistency of character displayed?  Would those people emulate that example, and create a rich ongoing legacy of exemplary character?

Be a person of exceptional character!

Homework Points

  1. Are you proud of the character you display?
  2. What character test do you need to improve?
  3. Who looks up to you?  Think about your character legacy.
